Mechanism of Action

VIP binds to VPAC1 and VPAC2 receptors throughout the body, activating adenylate cyclase to increase cAMP. It acts as a neurotransmitter, vasodilator, and immunomodulator — suppressing pro-inflammatory cytokines (TNF-α, IL-6) while upregulating anti-inflammatory mediators. Also stimulates secretin, glucagon, and insulin pathways.
